A washing machine and tumble dryer are available for guests and located behind the wood panel/door in the main ground floor bathroom (see floorplan below).

A retractable Brabantia WallFix clothes line is available outside at the rear of the chalet. It opens and closes in one movement.

Cleaning

Cleaning equipment is available in the chalet for small spills and everyday use during your stay.

Drinking water

The tap water is safe to drink and of excellent quality. Saint-Gervais' drinking-water networks are monitored regularly, so there is no need to buy bottled water.

General waste

A bin for non-recyclable household waste is located beneath the kitchen sink. Gently pull the second cupboard door from the right and the pull-out bin will appear.

After use, please push the cupboard door back fully. This helps prevent insects from being attracted during the warmer summer months.

Recycling

The recycling bin is located behind the wooden door on the left-hand side of the entrance to the self-contained unit, near the kitchen.

Paper, cardboard, glass, plastic and general household packaging may all be placed together. There is no need to separate the materials or rinse containers.

At departure

There is no need to empty either the general-waste bin or the recycling bin at the end of your stay. We will take care of both after your departure.

Please try restarting the 5G modem and Wi-Fi router using the steps below.

Main Samsung TV in the lounge

1. Access the modem

Gently pull the main Samsung TV in the lounge forward. Place your fingers behind both sides of the screen and carefully pull it towards you. Behind the TV you will see the Orange 5G modem — the upright white box on the left-hand side with the Orange logo.

2. Restart the Orange 5G modem

Press the round power button on the back of the modem to turn it off. Leave it off for approximately one minute, then press the button again to turn it back on.

Google Wi-Fi pod

3. Wait for the connection to restart

Allow a little time for the system to reconnect. The light on the Orange 5G modem should turn green. The light on the Google Wi-Fi pod — the small round white device next to the modem — should then turn white, normally within about 30–60 seconds.

4. If the Google Wi-Fi pod does not turn white

If the Orange modem is working but the light on the Google Wi-Fi pod is still not white, restart the pod. Unplug the USB-C power cable underneath the pod (the middle connection), wait for one minute, then reconnect it.

First-aid kit

The first-aid kit contains disinfectant, plasters, pain relief, insect repellent, sunscreen, cotton buds, cotton make-up pads, a tick remover and other basic essentials.

Fire extinguishers

Fire extinguishers are located in the main lounge and the master bedroom. Smoke detectors are installed throughout the chalet.

Fire blanket

A fire blanket is located beneath the kitchen sink for use in the unlikely event of a cooking-related fire.

Emergency torch

A torch is mounted beside the electrical consumer unit and main switches. In the unlikely event of a power cut, simply remove it from its holder for immediate use.

Welcome to Fleurs des Roches

Arrival, living at the chalet & departure

Everything you need to settle in comfortably and enjoy the chalet.

Parking

The parking area at the front of the chalet accommodates two to three cars. Please do not park in the driveway on the left-hand side of the chalet, which must remain clear and unobstructed.

Access & keys

Keys are provided in the lockbox to the left of the front door. Your host will provide the code once the reservation has been confirmed. A second set is available inside the chalet.

  • The diamond-shaped key opens all exterior doors except the French door to the self-contained unit at the rear of the chalet (Bedroom 5).
  • The round-shaped key opens that French door. Lift the handle upwards before turning the key to lock it.

Heating Winter

The chalet has high-performance insulation, double glazing and underfloor heating and should remain warm at all times. Electric wall heaters may be switched on if additional warmth is required.

Windows & flyscreens

Most windows have retractable flyscreens. To roll a screen back in, hold the black plastic tabs as close as possible to the side edges, pull down and gently towards you to release the lock. The screen will then retract automatically.

Living areas & televisions

The chalet has two lounge areas that comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests. The main lounge has a Samsung screen with Apple TV and the main streaming apps installed. Content can also be streamed from a phone or tablet. The smaller lounge beneath the mezzanine bedroom has an LG Smart TV with apps pre-loaded.

Geneva S sound system

Connect by Bluetooth and select Layen i-Dock 40 from the available devices. The remote is located beside the unit. Please do not remove the black transmitter in the top dock, as it is required for Bluetooth playback.

Fireplace Winter

You are welcome to use the fireplace. Once the fire is established, keep the front glass door closed at all times. Fire-lighting cubes, matches, logs and fire starters are located to the right of the fireplace.

Recycling

A recycling bin is provided behind the wooden door on the left-hand side of the entrance to the self-contained unit, near the kitchen. Paper, cardboard, glass, plastic and general packaging may be stored together and do not need to be rinsed or cleaned.

Departure

Check-out is by 10:00 am. Please leave the second set of keys on the dining table, return the first set to the lockbox and ensure that all doors and windows are securely closed. There is no need to take out the rubbish or recycling. We wish you a safe journey home.

Mont Blanc is inseparable from Saint-Gervais. The principal French normal route begins on this side of the massif, using the Tramway du Mont-Blanc before continuing towards Nid d’Aigle, Tête Rousse and the Goûter refuge.

Essential safety advice

Mont Blanc is not a walk-up summit

The ascent is a serious high-altitude mountaineering undertaking involving glaciers, crevasses, snow and ice, rockfall, altitude and rapidly changing weather. It requires excellent fitness, acclimatisation, suitable technical equipment and genuine mountaineering experience.

Guests without the appropriate experience should attempt the summit only as part of a properly prepared programme with a qualified high-mountain guide. Refuge reservations on the normal route are controlled, and camping or bivouacking is prohibited within the classified Mont Blanc site.

Grill · Plancha · Oven-style cooking

  1. Always open the barbecue lid before lighting. Check that all burner controls are in the OFF position, then open the valve on the gas bottle.
  2. Push and turn one main burner control anticlockwise to the full-power position and operate the ignition until the burner lights. If it does not light after several attempts, turn it off, wait 5 minutes and try again.
  3. Light the remaining burners as required and allow the grill or plancha to heat before cooking.
  4. For grilling, searing and plancha cooking, cook mainly with the lid open. For slower or indirect cooking, close the lid and use the barbecue like an outdoor oven.
  5. When finished, turn all burner controls to OFF and then close the valve on the gas bottle.
Grill + planchaThe barbecue has both a traditional cooking grill and a plancha, so you can use the surface best suited to what you are cooking. The closed lid can also be used for oven-style indirect cooking.
Gas and burns hazardUse the barbecue outdoors only. Keep the lid open while lighting, never leave it unattended while operating, keep children well away, and do not move it while lit. Keep combustible materials away from the barbecue and always close the gas bottle after use.

We would appreciate it if you could brush the grill and clean the plancha after use, once the surfaces are safe to handle, and leave the barbecue ready for the next guests.
